Meet Esthetician Tammi Cox

Oct 3, 2019

We sat down with esthetician Tammi Cox and got close and personal. We love to introduce our team to you! In this day and age of a screen often separating us, we are proud to be real people who touch thousands of clients every month. Read on to learn all about what makes Tammi tick.

What got you into Esthetics?
As a teenager I grew up obsessed with all-natural DIY skin care products. Constantly trying new things and taking really good care of my own skin. As high school was coming to an end for me I had no idea what direction I wanted to go with my life. I got a random pamphlet in the mail for a massage school and went to check it out but I knew massage wasn’t my ‘passion’.. Little did I know they offered Esthetics as well!
This was my first introduction to the field. Within a few months I was enrolled in a 9 month Esthetics program because I was confident this was the path I was meant to go down! Had it not been for that random pamphlet in the mail I’m not sure how long my Esthetics journey would have been delayed, but I KNOW I would have found my way to this career choice – one way or another! I truly believe it was Divine Intervention!

Why did you join TSP?
I joined The Still Point not long after graduating my course (4+ years ago). I loved/love everything about TSP from our Mission to our Core Values! I’ve been in work environments I didn’t care too much for and dreaded going to. But I could tell the very first time I walked into the spa that this was the place I was meant to be!

I loved everything from the energy of the staff to the quality of the products and 4 years later and I’m still here! Over the years the staff has evolved as a community within TSP and our clients are the most unique people that I APPRECIATE seeing each shift!

It truly is a blessing to be surrounded with such like minded and wellness-conscious individuals!

What does self-care look like to you?
My self-care rituals definitely change with my moods, the seasons and stages of my life. To me healing is not linear and it constantly changes as I move through my journey in life. Some of my regular go-to’s for self-care have included yoga and meditation, self-massage with Ayurvedic oils, gratitude journaling, and playing around with my healing crystals.

What do you do for fun?
Having a career as a wellness practitioner and being in school for Ayurveda over the past year has definitely made me be more aware and conscienious of how I spend my time and on what. It can be easy to put ‘fun’ on hold because we feel we ‘have’ to do XZY instead. As of late, I’ve been including more art in my learning process with school so combining the two has allowed me to sneak a little extra fun in there!
Overall for me, finding little moments in my day or random afternoons/weekends has allowed me to be more spontaneous and go with the flow to ALLOW fun, creativity, and inspiration to come naturally.
It may start off as a walk around the block with my pup, Scrappy, or end as a hike in a nice scenic park but regardless of what activity I’m doing just being in the moment and present is fun for me!

What’s something you are currently struggling with?
One thing that has been a bit more challenging for me is consistency with keeping a schedule. My body thrives on routine and when I’m keeping up, I feel great. But when I allow procrastination or laziness to interfere it throws me off balance, making getting back to the schedule more difficult. My goal is to stop putting so much pressure on myself to keep the ‘perfect’ schedule and instead create realistic and attainable goals for each day. This way I’ll stay on track without feeling overwhelmed. Also, changing my perspective from ‘I HAVE to’ – to – ‘I GET to’, has made all the difference!
